Beethoven. Piano Sonata No. 10 in G, Op. 14, No. 2. In three movements: Allegro, Andante, Scherzo (Allegro assai). Artur Schnabel (1882-1951), piano. Recorded circa 1935; a collaboration between the Beethoven Sonata Society and HMV.
This is a very fine, lyrical piece by Beethoven, in which he explores many new rhythms and textures.
As with other pieces, Artur Schnabel's rendition is a bit too fast for my taste (1st and 3rd movements) , because then it's difficult to hear all the nuanced passages. It's like he's racing to get to the end first. But that seldom process the "Winner".
